Walter and Evelyn founded the company in 1956 when he was 27. At that time, the company was names Walter Thielemann Construction. There have been several name changes during the years, but the company is now known as Theilemann Construction Co., L.P.
At the age of 18, he was drafted into the armed forces. After his service there, he returned to Brenham to pursue an Associate of Arts degree from Blinn College. They ran the company themselves until their son, Arlen, began working with them and then eventually took over as President. Now approaching 86, Walter has finally decided to step away from the daily demands and business of the construction industry. Evelyn, now 83, continues to help out with daily and weekly administrative responsibilities.
Walter and Evelyn have resided in Brenham and the Washington County area their entire lives. They enjoy supporting local groups such as Brenham Hospice and The Boys and Girls Club. They have been and continue to be active faithful members of their local church St. John's Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Walter and Evelyn have 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. WIth all those grandkids come a lot of activities, so they are constantly busy and faithfully attend as many soccer, T-ball, football, volleyball and basketball games as they can.
Evelyn has been an avid bowler for years and still participates in local leagues and tournament play. SHe also loves working in her yard, traveling, and entertaining her grandchildren. To say that Walter is an avid hunter is probably an understatement. Evelyn will attest to the fact that he as not ever missed an annual hunting trip to the hill country in over 50 years. He also enjoys spending time on his farm and working cattle.
